SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 01/09/2026 at 1638 hours, Deputy Battista was actively patrolling in the town of Barton VT. Deputy Battista was traveling on Barton Orleans Road, when he observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Battista attempted to catch up to one of the vehicles and lost sight of the other vehicle. The vehicle continued to drive dangerously onto Lake Region Road and driving through the Lake Region School parking lot. Deputy Battista then activated his blue emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop.
The vehicle accelerated rapidly back onto Lake Region Rd failing to stop, turning onto Route 58 traveling towards Irasburg Village continuing at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle stopped before reaching Irasburg Village.
The driver was identified as Enrique Daniel Ortiz Ortiz was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Department for processing. Ortiz was released with a Juvenile citation, and the vehicle being operated was towed.

Perry was arrested and transported back to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for processing before being issued a citation and released.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 01/08/2026 between 1730-2000 hours, Sergeant David Garces was on duty working a routine detail at the Lake Region Union High School basketball game. During the game, Sergeant Garces was made aware of a substantially intoxicated spectator, later identified as Scott Souliere. Towards the end of the game, Souliere presented disorderly behavior and he was taken into custody by Sergeant Garces and Deputy Hunter Cota. Souliere resisted while being taken into custody. Deputies were not harmed during this incident. Souliere was processed after the arrest and issued a No Trespass Order from the school.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 12/06/2025 Deputy Cota investigated several Retail Thefts and incidents of Unlawful Trespass that occurred between October and December of 2025 at the Walmart in Derby. Investigation revealed that Alex Maldonado entered the store after being formally trespassed and stole several items within this period. With the help of Morristown Police Department, Alex Maldonado was located on 01/05/2026 and charged with Unlawful Trespass X3 and Retail Theft.

Investigation revealed that Travis Daigle stole several items from Walmart in this period both before and after he was formally trespassed from the store. Travis Daigle was located on 12/26/2025 and was charged with Retail Theft X3 and Unlawful Trespass X2.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 12/24/2025 while on duty for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Battista was conducting a stationary patrol at the intersection of route 14 and route 5 in Coventry VT.
Deputy Battista witnessed a blue in color Toyota sedan fail to stop at the stop sign coming off of route 14 onto route 5. Deputy Battista conducted a traffic stop and identified the operator as Cory E Kambour.
After a DMV check was conducted, it was found that Kambour was currently under Criminal Suspension and had a Confirmed warrant out of Newport City Police Department. Kambour was placed under arrest and transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department. Where he was released with two criminal citations.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On December 23th 2025, at 1731 hours. Deputy Battista was informed of a vehicle that appeared to be disabled in the roadway at the approximate location of 1554 Loop rd in the town of Troy.
Deputy Battista arrived on scene locating the disabled vehicle. Deputy Battista identified everyone that was with the vehicle, having Newport PD Dispatch conduct a records check. It was found that one of the passengers with the vehicle, April M Robidoux had multiple warrants for their arrest.
Once the warrants were confirmed, Robidoux was placed under arrest and transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department then to Northern State Correctional Facility.

On December 14th 2025, at 2002 hours, Deputy Battista was conducting speed enforcement in the town of Troy VT on route 100.
Deputy Battista observed a Silver in color Cadillac traveling East on route 100. Utilizing Lidar, Deputy Battista had the Cadillac traveling at 66 MPH in the posted 50 MPH zone. Deputy Battista conducted a traffic stop on route 100 and identified the operator as Spencer Sargent. Upon a records check it was found that Spencer’s license was currently under Criminal Suspension.
Spencer was placed under arrest and transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for processing. Spencer was released after processing with a criminal citation.
