Description: On 04/17/2025 at 2220 hours, Deputy David Garces patrolled Rt 100 in Westfield, VT and he observed a vehicle make traffic violations. When the traffic stop was conducted, Deputy Garces observed several signs of impairment on the operator. At the conclusion of sobriety tests, the operator was arrested and processed for DUI prior to release with a court date.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 04/30/2025 while on duty for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Cota received a report of Benjamin Burritt violating his court conditions of release by contacting his female victim through text messages. Burritt sent dozens of text messages that all violated his conditions of release. Deputy Cota was attempting to locate Burritt for the VCR charges. On 05/02/2025 Deputy Garces located Burritt’s vehicle travelling in Jay and conducted a traffic stop. Burritt’s license is also criminally suspended, and he was operating a motor vehicle on a public highway at the time of the traffic stop. Deputy Garces arrested Burritt and transported him to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department. Burritt was lodged for 27 counts of Violation of Conditions of Release and Driving While License is Criminally Suspended.
