Description:

On 10/02/2026, Deputy Battista began an investigation on Jason Roberts for multiple curfew violations that have occurred since the date that the curfew was imposed in the month of July. Deputy Battista located and arrested Roberts in Holland. After processing, Roberts was held without bail at the Northern State Correctional Facility.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 09/28/2026 at approximately 1607 hours, while on duty for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Battista observed a vehicle driving on route 105 in Newport City at an extremely fast rate of speed. Deputy Battista initiated a traffic stop; the operator was identified as Zachary Smith.

During the traffic stop Deputy Battista observed several signs of impairment and a handgun with a 30-round magazine inside the vehicle. Zachary was found to also be in violation of his active court ordered conditions of release to not consume alcohol.

Zachary was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for processing. The vehicle being operated was towed and evidence was seized.

Zachary was charged with, DUI Criminal Refusal, Violation of Conditions of Release, Excessive Speed and Large Capacity Ammunition Feed Devices.

Sergeant Garces conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle and further investigation revealed that the operator was impaired. The operator was arrested and processed at the Sheriff's Department prior to his release with a court date for the charge of DUI.

The operator was identified as Robin S Nolan Jr. During investigation it was found that Nolan’s drivers license was under criminal suspension.

Nolan was subsequently taken into custody and processed at the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for Driving with a Criminally Suspended License. The vehicle plates were seized and the vehicle was towed.
