SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 02-15-2025 at approximately 0130 hours, Deputy David Garces patrolled Route 16 in Barton and he observed a vehicle make a moving violation. The vehicle got onto the Interstate and continued to make moving violations. Deputy Garces conducted a traffic stop and observed several indicators of impairment on the operator. At the conclusion of roadside investigation, the operator was arrested for DUI and he was processed for DUI prior to his release.

Description: On 02/20/2025 at 1920 hours, Deputy David Garces was patrolling the village of Barton when he observed a vehicle that eluded from his traffic stop on the night of 02/14/2025. Deputy Garces conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that this vehicle was also stolen out of Newport on 01/26/2025 and the license plate was changed. The operator of the vehicle, Travis Dapp also had a criminally suspended license. Travis Dapp was arrested and processed for the above charges and he was released on court conditions and to appear at court on 02/21/2025 at 1230.

He observed a vehicle make several motor vehicle violations and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking to the operator, Deputy Garces observed several signs of impairment. Further investigation led to the arrest and processing of the operator for driving under the influence.

Description:
On 01-03-2025 at 2000 hours, Deputy David Garces responded to Barton to assist VSP for a report of a vehicle that was driving the wrong way on the Interstate. The vehicle was reported to get off Exit 25 and drive erratically through RT 5 in Barton and then back on the Interstate from Orleans Village. The vehicle was located by VSP and Orleans County just south of the Newport Exits. Deputy Garces observed signs of impairment and arrested the operator. After further processing the operator was released with a court date.

At the conclusion of sobriety tests, the operator was taken into custody and transported to be processed for DUI at the Newport Police Department.

After checking with dispatch, the vehicle came back registered to an individual with an active arrest warrant. Upon conducting an investigative stop the individual with the warrant was not in the vehicle but the operator was subsequently arrested for DUI drugs.
