SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 03/07/2024 while on duty for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Gonyaw received information on the whereabouts of a male with a full extradition warrant out of Florida for Felony charges. After investigation it was learned this arrest warrant had been issued on 07/30/1999 and Obrien had not been arrested for it. Deputy Gonyaw located Obrien at his residence in Newport Center. Obrien was arrested and transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for processing and subsequently to NSCF. Obrien is due in Vermont Superior Court; Orleans Criminal Division on 03/08/2024 to answer to charge of Fugitive from Justice. Obrien is pending extradition back to Florida on the original charges.
